script, summery and shots

Three images of an urban environment will appear – fading into one another.

The next image will be of Lucy Martins (Jade) walking towards the office, (low angle) before cutting to Lucy Martins (Jade) within in the office. You will see her open the door (low angle), see her walking (low angle) and sitting at her desk (mid short).

Extras (assistant) Bayo– “Moring, here’s your case, and may I introduce you to you
partner Tara Jones” - (high angle).

Lucy Martins (Jade) – “I work alone” - (a jump cut every time I say each word,
starting with a mid short, close-up and
extreme close up)

End of scene one

Fast editing of Lucy Martins (Jade) Discovering the case with shots of:

- the images of the case and the killing - (these will be still images of the
case and me looking over the shoulder at her).
- a sequence of shots of someone being chased, someone being killed and Jade
at the murder scene. A shot of Lucy Martins (Jade) identifying the number 2
on the victims neck - (this will be a sequence of point of view shots both
from the detective and the killers point of view)
- a large white board with information about the case - (point of view shot
and a jump cut)
- a newspaper article about the killing – “On going murder continues - (point
of view shot and every word is a different shot and will be put together to
form a sequence)
- a quick flashback of the first murder and the number 3 on that victims neck - (the shot will be a extreme close up of the victims neck but will
also contain the effect of blurred motion once edited to identify a flash
back)
- a shot of Tara Jones (Avneet) following Lucy Martins (Jade) – (a point of
view shot from Tara’s point of view and a close-up of Tara’s face)

Whilst the sequences of shots take place, there will be a voiceover of Jade explaining her detective qualities.

Lucy Martins (Jade) – “I’m a trained detective who has sussed out numerous cases.
I’m well skilled and work alone.
dont need or want any
help, times ticking”.

(As I say time is ticking we will included a ticking time bomb which we will included whilst editing that will count down over the trailer)

End of the sequence of shots – all shots will be edited at a fast pace

Lucy Martins (Jade) walks to her car whilst being at the office when Tara Jones (Avneet) approaches.

Tara Jones (Avneet) – “Drop the case” - (close-up)

Lucy Martins (Jade) – “No way” – (close- up)

Tara Jones (Avneet) – “The killers behind” – (close-up)

Lucy Martins (Jade) – “I know” – (close-up followed by a wide angle shot to show
the killers as well as the detectives)

There will be a variety of killers (villains), surrounding Jade and Avneet, before they both turn around and shoot at them. They manage to kill two individuals, but the other two get away. Therefore this scene will consist of another sequence of action packed, fast pace motion of the two detectives (Jade and Avneet), chasing after the two killers. (We will use a range of shots and a variety of angles to capture the action).

The last shot will be of both the detectives back to back pointing their guns at the killers. The camera will track 360 degrees around the detectives before they both shot and the screen will go black. This will lead to the film title and credits, before the shot re-appears of a woman on the telephone.

Killer (Nita) - “The case isn’t over yet!”- (an extreme close-up of just her lips
and part of the telephone)

Inspiration

To create the trailer we have gathered a variety of inspiration from a range of films and teaser trailers that grabbed our attention. The three films that stood out the most were ‘Seven’, ‘Die Hard’ and ‘Along came a Spider’. All films are based around a similar theme and area of the thriller genre. They are all based on a detective/s exploring and discovering a case based on a range of topics. As a group we decided to base our own film around a detective case as there is so much that we can look at. The ‘Die Hard’ series is great to look at as in each one, a different idea is explored. Whereas ‘A Long Came a Spider’ has a good twist at the end that really captures the audience and is unexpected. But the most inspirational was the film ‘Seven’. We first watched this film in class and straight away it captured us in the prospect that we couldn’t predict what was happing next. This is an aspect of this sub-genre that we feel is extremely important to include. Within thrillers to capture and hold the audience’s attention, you need to be able to keep the suspense and keep them guessing, and this is exactly what ‘Seven’ does. In addition thriller trailers are extremely important in being able to capture the audience straight away to get the audience’s interested to come and see the movie.
From our power points we established a variety of key features that trailers should contain to hopefully be successful. But a couple of things in particular, with regards to thriller trailers, are action, and providing enough information that the audience want to see it, but not to much information that the audience know the story and now don’t need to see the movie. Seven does this very well in the fact that it gets you guessing.
There are a variety of detective movies available that we need to make sure the actual idea and storyline doesn’t clash with other movies. Just like ‘Seven’, as a group we like the idea of a continue murder and wanted to forma idea around this theme. Furthermore we like the idea of two detectives taking on a case.
‘Seven’ is obviously our main form of inspiration, but we would like to take the idea and make it our own.

Synopsis

This story is based around two private detectives, who are given a murder case about a skilled murderer. They are both presented with the case and appointed to work with each other however one detective makes it very clear that they only work alone. This detective, in particular, is a top detective that is extremely talented in finding and figuring out murder cases. So when they present her with this case she feels insulted that she has been paired up with another individual.
The victim of the murder is a woman and at the scene of the crime she has the number 3 printed on her neck. Both detectives go on to try and discover who murdered the victim with out each other knowing. They use all kind of methods and techniques that has been useful through the evidence provided. However while the investigation continues for both detectives another murder takes place, yet this time the victim has the number 2 printed on there neck. The detectives realise that the murders have a connection and they are both dealing with a serial killer. Again the investigation continues until both detectives have a brake through and think they know who the murderer is.
After work both detectives clash within a car park. They identify and realise that they both think they know the killer and he/she is behind them, as well as
two other villains. Both detectives are able to pull out guns and shoot one villain, yet the other two are able to get away and escape. Both detectives chase after the villains and try to capture and kill them. This results in the two detectives collaborating and working together when they are presented with the opportunity to killer the villains once they captured them.
The result is that the murders are shot and the detectives believe they have found and killed the killers. However they receive a call from the original killer stating that the detectives have killed their associates and that the person on the other end on the phone is the real killer, and will continue to kill.
